Do not gamble on a flush and refill. Milky oil means water has been sitting in there long enough to emulsify, so the bearing races are almost certainly already etching.

There is no rule of thumb that will keep you out of a courtroom. If the GC cannot hand you a bearing capacity, that is the conversation you need, not a guessed mat size.
