How do you size outrigger mats on fill that was only just placed?

Standing a 60-tonne RT on engineered fill that went in last autumn. There is no plate load test on file and the GC will not give me a bearing figure past 'it compacted fine'.

I know the correct answer is to get a number out of an engineer. Failing that, what mat area do you all take as a starting point before you start asking harder questions?

There is no rule of thumb that will keep you out of a courtroom. If the GC cannot hand you a bearing capacity, that is the conversation you need, not a guessed mat size.

For planning only, I start from 150 kPa assumed on unverified fill and size off the worst corner load on the chart. It usually works out a bigger mat than people are expecting.
